Special Charity Benefit Event - Barry Cryer and Colin Sell Bring New Audiences to Pan
3 December 2016Comedy legends Barry Cryer and Colin Sell sold out at King's Place Theatre on Wednesday in a wonderful evening, raising valuable funds for our work
Pan's patron, Reeta Chakrabarti, again hosted a knock-out event for us in which Barry and Colin generously gave their performance as the centre of a benefit performance.
Their own brand of crazy humour and dry wit throws up stories and jokes from Barry's long involvement with the comedy scene of the last fifty years and is non-stop. Barry has amazing energy and an amazing memory as Colin prompts him to dig more anecdotes from his rich life, and suddenly they launch into songs old and new, often with equally silly twists - Enormous fun!
Not surprisingly their typical audience is not one which knows much about Pan's work. Well they do now. There was a terrific reaction to the introduction which Reeta and John Martin gave at the beginning of the show, with a short video by one of Pan's participants. The Amies Choir, made up of female survivors of trafficking, closed the evening with two stirring songs, sung from the heart. Colin stayed on stage to accompany them.
Thanks to everyone who attended, all who took part and especially Pan's team of staff and volunteers who made the evening run so effortlessly.
